Mountain Men tells the charming tale about two brothers who reunite for their mother’s wedding. One, a smalltown country boy, Toph, the other, a big city lawyer, Cooper. It’s not often the two see eye to eye, but when Toph (Tyler Labine) coerces Coop (Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl fame) into driving out to their dead father’s cabin in the woods, things go awfully wrong.
Stranded in the rocky mountain winter snow, the brothers will have to learn to work together if they want to survive. The film starts off slow, with no real direction. Even the comedy is negatively off-beat, but the story really picks up towards the end. It’s a great narrative,
but could have been better executed.
Nonetheless, it makes for a good home movie, a chance to loaf in front of the television on a Saturday night when you’ve got nothing better to do.
